SOUTHAMPTON vs CHELSEA (1230 ko)
The first of two such fixtures in 10 days, and by far the more important from a south coast perspective, sees the Saints in a desperate quest for points. There can be few better opportunities to boost their survival hopes against the reigning champions than now. The Blues are in turmoil and seems to have little left to play for in the league bar finishing above Arsenal. The Saints will go all out for maximum points today and even a point would give their fans much needed hope. Draw.

BURNLEY vs LEICESTER CITY
A bit of a dead rubber, this, and probably not one for the purists. Burnley have earned every plaudit they’ve got for their work this season and Sean Dyche will doubtless take pleasure from positioning the burners ever closer to former boss Arsene Wenger’s backside. Home win.

CRYSTAL PALACE vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION
Arguably the game of the day. Brighton are in 13th spot with 35 points, which may well be enough to see them safe. But they have a nightmare run-in and today could well be their last chance to bank a point that would surely be enough to stay up. Palace have the kindest run-in of all relegation-threatened teams, but they still have to get the points that would give them another season in the top flight. All of which adds spice to this rather strange rivalry. Draw.

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN vs WATFORD
Like Brighton, few people will give Huddersfield much hope of getting even a point from their last three games, which leaves today and their next game at home to Everton as their final opportunities to save themselves from the drop. They’ve done incredibly well to get themselves into the position they’re currently in and have spent (virtually?) the whole season above the drop zone. Many neutrals would consider it unfortunate if they faltered at the final hurdle. Watford are effectively, if not mathematically, safe and appear to have little to play for. Home win.

SWANSEA CITY vs EVERTON
They looked dead and buried this time last season, so this is the second consecutive time Swansea have performed a miracle to pull away from the bottom three. Everton will be no walk over although their aspirations for the season seem to have been met. Defeat today would put the Swans right back among the pigeons, assuming acceptability of the avian metaphor. Expect a dogged display and a narrow home win.

LIVERPOOL vs BOURNEMOUTH (1730 ko)
A fourth straight season in the Premier League beckons for the Cherries – a phenomenal achievement for a club of its size. Liverpool haven’t always been at their flowing best after a midweek European game and with half an eye on Roma Bournemouth would be forgiven for playing for a point or more today. This should be an open game, with goals. Home win.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs MANCHESTER CITY (1945 ko)
This City side will go down as one of the great teams of the Premier League era. Their last couple of weeks, though, show that they’re far from invincible, as Spurs will hope to further demonstrate today. This should be a corker of a game that both teams will go flat out to win. Your evening entertainment is sorted. Away win.

Could be a pivotal day
We need Chelsea, Watford and Everton to win away for the perfect day

Palace v Brighton is a bit odd. I fully expect Palace to pull clear but they keep conceding late. In a way it may be better for us to keep Brighton close even though Palace are below us.
That said if we get enough points to get above Brighton we will probably be safe anyway.

Re: Saturday football
I think Huddersfield and Swansea are the more likely to contest the third place with Southampton. 35 points look like being safe.

Re: Saturday football
Can I mention a couple of fixtures north of the border today on behalf of Morag my Scottish cousin from the granite city?

Brora Rangers v Cove Rangers( the new Highland League champions from Aberdeen)

Motherwell v Aberdeen(Scottish Cup semi final)

Morag is on his way to Glasgow with her husband for the latter game and she reckons it will bring them good luck if I mention this.
They also support West Ham so it's only fair I return the favour.

"Morag is on his way to Glasgow with her husband"

Names may cause confusion.

Re: Saturday football
Don’t judge how Morag/Merv identifies himself/herself.
It’s a long drive so he/she may well be a Motherwell fan by the time they get there.

Re: Saturday football
Worse case scenario:

Come 5pm we are 17th in the table, only 3 points above drop zone!

Best case scenario:

We are still 6 points clear of Southampton but now with a game in hand on them (Stoke game) after they lose at home to Chelsea! Huddersfield also lose at home to Watford keeping them 4 points below us but we would have 2 games in hand on them!

Also both Palace and Swansea staying below us would be good although I think they will both win today.

My prediction come 5pm is:

Swansea will beat Everton and go above us
Palace will beat Brighton and go above us on GD
Huddersfield will only draw at best and stay below us
Southampton will draw and stay 5 points below us in the shit!

Monday night Arnie will seal Stoke's fate!

Didn't I mention Morag is a tranvestite who wears doc martins?

Re: Saturday football
Would love to see Palace go,but expect them and probably Swansea to get out of it.Think us and the others involved are probably looking at Soke,Southampton and Huddersfield as the most likely victims.

Re: Saturday football
If Chelsea beat Southampton and Stoke fail to beat us then we're 90% there in my opinion. I can't fucking stand Chelsea, but they could do us a massive favour today.

Hughes has had 2 games v Chelsea as Stoke manager this season .... 0-4 & 0-5
Either of those will do today

Southampton ahead
Chelsea lethargic and at testimonial pace with their manager serving out his last few weeks hoping for an early sacking so he can go on holiday

Re: Saturday football
Long way to go but a very bad result if Southampton win. Puts us right back in the mix.
